Laminate Floor
One of the big advantages of opting for a laminate floor is that it can be laid onto just about any under surface.
There has been a significant trend over recent years towards wooden floors. A wooden floor somehow looks good – it’s pleasing to the eye and gives a home a new, smart look. There is little argument that a hardwood floor is the better quality option, and there a many a yellowwood floor in South Africa that were laid down more than 100 years ago and still look good. However, today there is a new option available – the laminate floor.
One of the big advantages of opting for a laminate floor is that it can be laid onto just about any under surface. It can also be installed in just about any room in your home, though we would not recommend installing it in bathrooms, washrooms or anywhere where it is likely to become very wet. If you should spill water or any other liquid on such a floor it should be mopped up straight away.
Laminate floors are made up of several layers of a melamine resin based material that are bonded together. The wooden grain appearance is actually a photograph that is superimposed and covered with transparent resin layer and usually finished with aluminium oxide. This makes it extremely hard wearing and long lasting.
The finish is so good that many people have difficulty telling the difference from real hardwood. A laminate floor is extremely durable and is easy to keep clean. It simply needs brushing with a soft brush or a slightly damp mop. There are special cleaning pads available that look very much like a mop and that have replaceable wrap-around pads that attract the dust.
Going round the edges of the room with a vacuum cleaner is all that is required. ! If you’d like to know more about laminates, call us at 011 830 1265.
